Free Syria, and Loving it ❤️

The joy of returning to a liberated Syria is beyond words. For decades, my family and countless others lived in exile, yearning for a homeland that was once vibrant, unified, and full of promise. The oppressive grip of Bashar al-Assad and his regime forced us to flee, leaving behind our homes, dreams, and memories.

Now, with the shadow of tyranny lifted (December 8, 2024 @ 6:18PM), we feel an indescribable sense of hope and determination as we prepare to rebuild the nation we love. The Syria we left is not the Syria we are returning to, but it is a canvas of infinite possibilities—a place where we can now plant the seeds of freedom, dignity, and prosperity for future generations.

Coming back to Syria has been a deeply emotional experience. The streets where we once walked as children are scarred, but they remain a symbol of resilience. Families are reuniting after years, sometimes decades, of separation. Laughter, once silenced by fear, now echoes in the neighborhoods as people gather to rebuild homes and lives. My children, who have only known stories of our homeland, are finally seeing it for themselves. They marvel at the ancient cities, the mountains, and the enduring spirit of the Syrian people. Together, we work side by side with friends and strangers alike, clearing rubble, planting trees, and laying the foundation for a brighter tomorrow.

For my family, the city of Zabadani holds a special place in our hearts. Our family home there was destroyed during the brutal raids of the tyrant government. I still remember my father’s solemn gaze as we left, filled with sorrow yet fueled by hope. I made him a promise—a promise that one day, I would return and rebuild every block of that home so the entire family could enjoy being together again. Now, standing on the soil of a free Syria, that promise feels within reach. As I walk the streets of Zabadani, I am reminded of its beauty, its resilience, and its people, who have endured unimaginable hardship yet remain unbroken.

What brings us the most joy is seeing Syria opening up to the world again. Markets are bustling, schools are reopening, and a sense of normalcy is slowly returning. Skilled professionals, artists, and entrepreneurs who once fled are coming back, eager to contribute to the country’s revival. There’s a shared understanding that we have a long road ahead, but also a collective determination to succeed. Rebuilding Zabadani and the family home is more than just a personal mission—it is a contribution to the greater vision of a thriving Syria where families can live in peace and harmony.

The freedom to speak, create, and dream in our own land is a blessing we will never take for granted. For my family, this moment feels like a second chance—a chance to rebuild not only our homes but also the identity and soul of a free Syria. The sacrifices of those who stood against oppression will forever guide us as we move forward. Together, as a united people, we are finally reclaiming the Syria we lost and forging a future filled with possibility, justice, and boundless hope.
